"Who the heck is Kenzie?"
Thanks for asking! I’m Kenzie Houllahan, a Graphic Design major at Johnson & Wales University. I specialize in vector-based print design and love implementing pop art elements into my work. If anything, I seek to avoid conventional minimalist design, as it really doesn’t fit what got me into the field in the first place.
One thing that many need to know about me is that I’m a massive nerd. Video games, tabletop roleplaying games, and comics are what inspired me to get into design. However, it’s clear that all designers must be able to step outside of their comfort zone, which, for me, is bright and silly.
Although my career goals are flexible, my dream is to work in the tabletop game-design space, both in visuals and technical factors. My whole life, I have been creating characters and worlds that I’m working towards bringing to a larger scale!
Because of my work in both grief advocacy and theatre, public speaking has become one of my most prideful skills. This helps with presenting my design ideas to all sorts of audiences, whether it’s someone I’m familiar with or not!
The arts have followed me throughout my life, from theatre to playing saxophone in my high school jazz and concert bands, but my one true love has always been design and visual media. Showing my design style and what I’m truly passionate about is incredibly important to me, and I appreciate anyone who has supported my dreams throughout the years.
